Amazing Course
After taking Intro to Carbine with Josh A, I knew I had to take the Advanced course. We briefly touched on topics covered in the Intro course to refresh all the students and shore up any weaknesses, then quickly picked up where Intro left off and delved into new topics. We took the basic drills covered in Intro such as forward and lateral movement, target identification and discrimination, and malfunction clearing and combined them with advanced drills (non-dominant hand shooting, transition to secondary weapon, etc.) to reinforce the concept of making these into subconscious movements. We covered shooting from various positions, many of which prohibited conventional shooting positions. This helped develop habits of creating a stable shooting foundation regardless of position or barricade. We also learned how to find the holds required for shooting a moving target at various distances. The layout and flow of the course, Josh A’s Socratic method of teaching, both combined with his real-world experience makes for a wealth of information that is easy to digest. This course has helped me identify my own weaknesses and has given me the tools I need to improve in those areas.
