VIPER BARREL VISE

If you need a vise that just works, the viper is the one. Very hard to beat for the price and Altus is a great place to purchase from.

This things a beast for the price. Some drywall tape and barrels come off and on like butter. I can imagine that if you do a lot of barrels you might want a vice with shims or quick disconnect, but for a single user that does it at home, this is great.

Great product, works great. I used this to barrel a new action with a stainless steel barrel for a rem700 action. The vise held the barrel well and had to slipping.

I haven't had the chance to put the vise to work yet. However, upon inspection, the vise appears to be well made. Only give 4 star for now. I will follow-up with another review once I put the vise to use.

Used this vise on a Rem 700 300 WM barrel. Added firm leather pads dusted with rosin. The vice was bolted to my work bench. Using a cheater pipe added to Wheeler action wrench the barrel yielded to the torque with no slip in the vise at all. The four vise bolts were tightened very firm with no deformation of the tool.

Looks and feels very well made. Pleasant to operate.

I did some research on similar products and chose the VIPER. I attached it to an INLINE Fabrication blank and it worked out great. I use a Shammy cloth to protect the barrels. I use it on muzzle device installs and barrel cleaning for Thompson Center barrels and any bolt gun I have. Quality and finish are excellent.
